Learnings
Milestones | What went well? | Areas of improvement: | Learnings |
Before Devcon | Team did well in generating tons of interest and thus project applications thanks to a consistent Twitter presence & engagement | - Judges had limited time during the event to do project reviews & KYC, the timeline should be spread out more to ensure project applicants and judges have sufficient time to submit applications and review them respectively
- Communication with project applications around timeline. Have more frequent communication touch points via email to keep projects notified of their application status. | - Have more backup judges to review project applications, needed more people to manage the inflow without delay
- QF operators should have a company incorporated in order to receive the grant as early as possible
- Community leads have the most engagement on social media, and event organisers are very willing to conduct Twitter Spaces sessions. Run more Twitter engagement activities to engage more of crypto twitter to learn about QF.
- Process to sign up needs to be more clear, account for delays due to project applications’ KYC influx at the last minute |
Event presence @ booth: | - Distributed postcards explaining QF. They were simple and straight to the point and helped with the educational push. Simplified educational materials like postcards can help spread QF awareness. | - Up for discussion: To have swag or not
Pros: It would attract more people to the booth.
Cons: People are at the booth primarily to collect swag. They aren’t as interested to learn about what QF is.
- Request for speakers that are talking about ZK / Public goods during the event, to give a shout out about Quadratic Funding. | |
Devcon QF round: | - A social media strategy to engage more people helped a lot with spreading awareness of the QF round | - Have more email communication touch points with projects:
i) Auto-generated email to confirm that the QF operator has received the project’s application
ii) Project application update (post KYC) to confirm if they’ve been accepted for the QF round or not.
iii) Share a link that approved projects can share with their followers, to vote for that project
- Website: Further simplify UX/UI to make site navigation easier for the masses
- Alternatives to BrightID
- Strict guidelines around quid pro quo in project marketing (no airdrops etc.)
| - Airdrop rumours: quashed it on Twitter, but a good experience as it helps the team remain vigilant for future rounds.
- In the future any organisation caught doing an airdrop or quid pro quo for votes will be barred from participating in any future QF rounds.
